Cat Dean

Cat is particularly enthusiastic about continuously perfecting her realistic, hand drawn, original works combining elements such as nature, florals, portraiture, hands, anatomy and machinery into surrealistic pieces. This is the style she is most well known for. As well as this style, Cat also works on a variety of other styles such as abstract paintings and caricature/cartoon watercolour illustrations.

Since 2015 she has illustrated a children’s book ‘My Mummy Made Me’ by Jodie Grieve – a children’s book about a single mother opting for donor sperm and IVF to have her own baby. She has also been commissioned to work for adidas Australia during the Adelaide Fashion Festival as a live painter and completed many commissioned portraits and opened an online store to sell prints of her original drawings. She intends to continue improving and developing her skills in realistic painting as well as all other elements of her work, and eventually use her creativity and artwork to assist with continuing to make the future a brighter place for her two daughters. Her work revolves around themes of motherhood, gender equality, our complex mind, body positivity and effective communication
